Teachers, cops clash in Punjab, 10 injured
Kapurthala, June 10 (UNI) Six unemployed BEd teachers and four policemen including a sub inspector were injured in a clash between the teachers and the police here this afternoon.
Official reports said that more than 500 unemployed teachers from all over Punjab assembled here to give a memorandum to Education Minister Upinderjit Kaur to fill the vacant posts of teachers .They took out a protest march in the bazars of the town and were stopped by the police near the house of the minister.
Police cane charged the agitating teachers when tried to break the police barricades. The agitating teachers also retaliated and pelted stones at the police resuting in minor injures to four policemen. Six protestors sustained injuries in the lathi charge.
One of the injured Pargat Singh of Moga was admitted in the local clivil hospital while the others were discharged after treatment.
