Shimla records hottest day and night of the season
Shimla, Jun 10 (UNI) Temperatures across Himachal Pradesh are three to seven degrees above normal with Shimla's maximum and minimum rising to a new high of 31.5 and 22.3 degree Celsius, the met office said.
The maximum in the state capital soared to a new high of 31.5 degrees, bettering the previous high of 31.4 degree Celsius recorded way back on June 10, 1995, and was the hottest day of this summer season till date.
The met office said Shimla also recorded the warmest night of the season at 22.3 degree Celsius as against 21.5 degrees recorded yesterday and the met office said it was six degrees above normal.
Una town continued to be the hottest place in the state with a maximum of 44 degrees, while Sundernagar in Mandi district recorded 41 degrees, it said.
Una also recorded the hottest night in the state at 23.5 degrees as compared to 22.8 degree Celsius recorded yesterday.
The met office said the maximum at Kalpa in Kinnuar district rose more than two degrees to stand at 27.3 degrees as compared to 25 degree Celsius recorded yesterday, while the minimum climbed to 11.1 degrees.
While the day temperatures at Bhuntar in Kullu district fell by a few notches to 38.4 from yesterday's 38.6 degrees, the minimum rose to 17.9 degrees as compared to 16.7 degree Celsius recorded yesterday.
The met office has said the dry hot weather conditions were likely to continue for another 24 hrs before temperatures begin to fall.
The continuing dry weather spell has created drinking water scarcity in various parts of the state following the drying up of several natural water sources and supply schemes.
