Raj: Govt to set up Crisis Management Core Group

Jaipur, June 10: The Rajasthan Government has decided to constitute a crisis management core group in the state to ensure proper handling of law and order situation during agitations and other difficult situations.

A decision to this effect was taken at a high-level meeting of ministers and secretaries held here last evening to review the situation in the 14 Gujjar agitation-affected districts of the state.

Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, ministers and secretaries, who were made in charge of these districts for supervising the situation during the Gujjar agitation, participated in the meeting.

Chief Secretary Anil Vaish, Principal Secretary Home VS Singh, Director General of Police AS Gill and several high officials were also present. However, Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria was not present at the meeting.

The ministers and secretaries who returned from their respective districts after receiving feed back on the situation, were of the veiw that some special arrangement was required to deal with law and order during such difficult situations.

Ms Raje endorsed the idea of setting of the crisis management core group for pre-planning on strategy and other aspects.

The ministers and officials also accepted that the government machinery had failed to anticipate the seriousness of the agitation and the intelligence set-up could not pass on effectively proper feed back before and during the agitation effectively.

The situation should be avoided in future, they felt.
