PBMC's nob mandatory before releasing house-building loan
Port Blair, June 10 (UNI) The Port Blair Municipal Council, the lone civic body in these remote archipelago, has urged its employees to obtain certificate from the Council before releasing of installments of house building loans to them.
''To ensure that the loan beneficiaries adhere to the provisions of building by-law of the Council, which provides provision for harvesting rain water for domestic purposes, other than drinking with mandatory construction of proper tank for collecting rain water,'' Secretary of Port Blair Municipal Council Mr Mohamed, told newspersons today.
The PBMC has also advised private engineers, architects and supervisors, who have been granted licenses, to keep watch at the time of construction of buildings for which they have prepared the building plan to ensure that provisions of building by-laws were not violated by the owners of the building at any stage and rain water harvesting system was provided in the buildings.
The islands were facing severe water cirisis even after the quick arrival of monsoon in the territory. Drinking water was being supplied once in every 96 hours in South Andaman.
