Navy medical teams rush to combat fever

Kochi, June 10 (UNI) Two medical teams fully equipped with medicines, pesticides and fogging equipment have left the naval base here for Kottayam and Idukki Districts to assist the state medical authorities in containing the spread of chikungunya in the state.

The teams from the naval hospital INHS were being co-ordinated by Surgeon Commodore S K Mohanty, Command Medical Officer of the Southern Naval Command here.

Two teams from the Army are also undertaking a similar mission in Thiruvananthapuram and Pattanamthitta Districts.

Each team includes two doctors, one of them a specialist, four medical staff, six non-medical staff and two members for handling pesticides.

The teams will undertake treatment of patients suffering from other ailments besides chikungunya, spray pesticides and carry out fogging in places as required by the health authorities in these districts.
