Ahmedabad, June 10 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has accused the Congress-led Centre of going soft against terrorists.

The Congress has lost the will to fight terrorism, Mr Modi alleged, while addressing a rally here to mark the completion of his five years in office.

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha L K Advani, former BJP president Venkaiah Naidu, cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, BJP president Rajnath Singh, and Gujarat BJP Chief Purshottam Rupala were among those present on the occasion.

Mr Modi said that although his government had okayed the anti-terror GUJCOC draft, yet the ''minority-appeasing'' Congress was impeding its transformation into a law.

Mr Modi said that when he took over as Chief Minister of the state, he had approached the task as a ''learner of the statecraft''. ''If, during my apprenticeship, I had done anything wrong, I seek the pardon of the people,'' he added.

The Chief Minister alleged that the Gujarat Congress had launched a misinformation campaign against him in view of the impending elections in the state.

He alleged that the Congress was trying to capitalise on the Sohrabuddin Shaikh fake encounter case to reap benefits in the coming elections. ''I will give them a fitting reply,'' he said.

Launching a scathing attack on Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Mr Modi said that despite her frequent visits to Gujarat, she had done nothing for the state nor had been able to contain the price rise.

Ever since the ''Nehruvian era'', grave injustice has been meted to Sardar Patel and Gujarat, he alleged. In this context, he cited former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's promise to set up a power plant in Pipapav -- a promise that has remained unfulfilled.
