Married woman commits suicide in Punjab

Phagwara, June 10 (UNI) A young married woman allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at her house in the Ravidasspura locality of the town last night, police today stated.

A complaint lodged by Harbhajan Ram, an uncle of the deceased alleged that his niece, Kamaljit was under mental stress since her husband Harmesh Kumar and in-laws had been making dowry demands for the last two years. The complainant claimed that despite giving the in-laws a sum of Rs 50,000 sometime back, they continued to harass his niece, a mother of a three year old daughter.

The police on the complaint of Harbhajan Ram registered a case against the husband and the in-laws. However no arrests had been made so far.
