Manipur: Four hardcore militants nabbed

Imphal, June 10: Four militants, belonging to two outifts, were nabbed by police and troops in three incidents.

Assam Rifles (AR) officials said a combined team of 21 and 34 ARarrested two cadres of People's Liberation Army (PLA) at KakchingBazar, Thoubal district yesterday.

In a seperate incident, a militant, belonging to the Kanglei YawolKanna Lup (KYKL), was detained by police on June eight, Superintendentof Police (SP) of Imphal East L Kailun said .

The KYKL cadre revealed that he was working as a sub-contractor for the social welfare department for the past two years.

He used to negotiate with the government department, especiallysocial welfare department, under the command of Hijam Basanta of UripokPolem Leikai at Imphal, the SP said adding that the cadre monitored theschemes under the department and informed the KYKL for contract works.

Later, based on the information provided tbe cadre, policesearched for Hijam Basanta and he was ultimately nabbed, the SP said.Basanta revealed that he was also working under the command of one S Sfinance officer Romesh singh of KYKL. He said he distributed the worksof different sub-contractors by deducing ten percent for the KYKL.
