Kodava communities oppose World Kodava Conference

Madikeri, June 10 (UNI) Various Kodava communities have expressed opposition to the World Kodava Conference, organised by the Kodava Sahithya Academy, for not including all the Kodava language speaking community people in the programme.

The Kodava Speaking Community Organisation passed a resolution at a meeting held at Virajpet Akhila Kodava Samaj here and warned that it would boycott the Conference if the organising committee was not reconstituted.

The Organization comprised representatives of 19 communities of original inhabitants in the district.

The 'Peggade' community leader Sara Chengappa said 19 communities in the district still use Kodava language as their mother tongue.

But all these sections were completely neglected by the Academy.

No representative from these communities was invited, he charged.

The Amma Kodava leader Krishnakumar demanded for the dissolution of the World Kodava Conference Committee.
