Heavy rains forecast in northeast, West Bengal, Goa, Kerala

Pune, June 10 (UNI) The Southwest Monsoon has been active in Assam, Meghalaya, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

Heavy to very heavy rains are likely to occur at many places in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

Heavy rains are likely to occur at many places in Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, south Konkan, Goa, coastal Karnataka, Kerala, and Lakshadweep.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places in Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and at a few places in east Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chattisgarh, north Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and interior Karnataka.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated places in west Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Madhya Pradesh. Mainly dry weather will prevail over Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat.

Severe heat wave conditions prevailed at isolated places in Haryana, Punjab, northwest Rajasthan and north Chattisgarh. Heat wave conditions also prevailed in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and north Madhya Pradesh and in remaining parts of Haryana, Punjab and of Rajasthan.

In the regions where the Southwest Monsoon is yet to set in, day temperatures were appreciably to markedly above normal in west Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, north Chattisgarh and in some parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and in remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh. They were above normal in Gujarat and in some parts of Saurashtra and Kutch, Konkan and Goa.

Day temperatures were appreciably to markedly below normal in some parts of Orissa, Bihar, south Chattisgarh and north Telangana, and were below normal in remaining parts of Orissa. They were normal over the rest of the country.

Extremely heavy rainfall have occurred at most places in Assam and Meghalaya.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in coastal Karnataka, Kerala and at many places in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Konkan and Goa.
