Heatwave claims 29 more lives in country

New Delhi, June 10 (UNI) A total of 29 lives were lost due to the scalding heatwave conditions prevailing in the country with 16 deaths reported in UP, eight in Delhi and five in Rajasthan during the last 24 hours.

In the national capital, eight people, including two women, died due to scalding heatwave conditions in the last 24 hours.

While five of the deaths were reported in East Delhi, three others died in North-West Delhi, sources said.

Five people, including a centenarian and a woman, died of sunstroke in Alwar district even as heatwave conditions continued unabated in most of the parts of Rajasthan.

A report from Alwar, quoting police and hospital sources said five people from Naugaon in Rajgarh sub-division, had developed symptoms similar to sunstroke and later died at various hospitals and clinics.
