Chandigarh, June 10 (UNI) In order to ensure maximum availability of power for consumers, Haryana Power Utilities are arranging electricity from all available sources including Delhi.

An official spokesman said here today that the state is getting 100 MW electricity daily from Delhi from 0300 hours for six hours.

Besides, arrangements had been made to procure electricity from West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh Government, Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board, Uttrakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Calcutta Electricity Supply Company and Mumbai. These states and companies had been supplying about 80 to 90 lakh units daily.

He said that the state was getting 40 to 50 lakh units of less power from the hydel projects, as melting of snow in the higher reaches had been delayed. Now the snow had started melting and generation from hydro stations was picking up.

The spokesman also said that the demand of electricity has increased due to record high temperature during the last 2-3 days.

Even then, all efforts are being made to supply power to the consumers as per schedule already announced by power utilities.

He said about 70 to 80 lakh units of electricity are being drawn and supplied to the consumers through overdrawal from the northern grid. The overdrawal is made in view of grid conditions and system parameters to cater the requirement.

However, some unavoidable regulations are being imposed due to overloading of power or distribution transformers, he said.

The spokesman further stated that the utilities had supplied 13.68 percent extra power to the consumers during first nine days of June, this year as compared to power supplied during first days of June last last. He appealed to the consumers to make optimum use of electricity.
