Junagadh, June 10 (UNI) A local court today granted four-day police remand of ''Godmother'' Santokben Jadeja for allegedly sheltering two suspects in the rape and murder of two girls near Datar Shrine on the outskirts of the city.

Santoken was arrested yesterday by the police for providing shelter to the two prime accused in the rape and murder of two girls at Datar Shirne on May 13.

The police, this evening, produced her before the court and sought four-day remand. Civil sessions judge P K Makwana granted the remand.

The two prime accused -- Mohan Hamir and Ramesh Alias Bhadu -- had allegedly taken shelter at Santokben's residence at Rajkot after fleeing from the crime scene.

The police had questioned ''Godmother'' yesterday on the basis of a statement by Savita, sister of Mohan Hamir.

Savita was detained by the police recently in connection with the murder and rape incident. In her statement to the police, Savita said she had gone to Rajkot on May 16 after receiving a telephone call from her brother Mohan. From there, she accompanied Mohan and Ramesh to Santokben's bungalow ''Shravan'' on Kalavad road area here.

Savita has said her brother and the other accused had confessed before Jadeja that they had committed the crime and wanted shelter as police were on their trail and the duo feared killed by the police.
