Fake currency gang busted in Dimapur

Kohima, Jun 10 (UNI) Acting on a tip-off, Dimapur police busted an interstate fake currency racket and arrested two persons in this connection along with fake notes amounting to Rs 1.4 lakh.

Official sources said the arrested persons, carrying fake notes in the denominations of Rs 1000 and Rs 500, were travelling from Imphal in Manipur to Dimapur.

Both the arrested are residents of Kangpokpi area under Senapati district of Manipur. They purchased the fake amount at Rs 50,000 and came to Dimapur to dispose it off at higher rate.

Police registered a case and interrogation was on to apprehend the entire racket involved in the fake currency crime, both in Nagaland and Manipur.

Meanwhile, fake currencies of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 denominations were detected in many parts of Nagaland, However, police personnel all over the state were on alert to check the crime, sources said.
