Fake currency gang busted at Dimapur
Kohima, Jun 10: Acting on a tip-off, Dimapur police busted ainterstate racket of fake currency notes and arrested two persons inthis connection along with a fake notes amounting to Rs 1,44,500 fromtheir possession.
Official sources said the two arrested persons, along with fakecurrencies in the denominations of Rs 1000 and Rs 500, were travellingfrom Imphal in Manipur to Dimapur to dispose of the consignment.
Both the arrested are residents of Kangpokpi area under Senapatidistrict of Manipur, had purchased the fake amount at Rs 50,000 andthey came to Dimapur to dispose it off to certain person at higher rate.
Police registered a case and interrogation was on to apprehend theentire racket involved in the fake currency crime, both in Nagaland andManipur.
Meanwhile, fake currencies of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 denominationswere detected in many prts of Nagaland, even some pesons complaining ofreceiving fake currencies among the real currencies from some banks,and when complained, they rejected the demands.
However, police personnel all over the state were on high alert to stop the crime, sources said.
