Kohima, Jun 10 (UNI) The People's Committee for Peace initiative in Asom (PCPIA) and Naga civil societies comprising Naga People's movement for Human Rights (NPMHR), Naga Hohom Naga Mothers' Association (NMA) and Naga Students Federation (NSF) have declared to resolve all the differences between Asom and Nagaland by themselves without any external intervention.

The two sides met at Kigwema about 12 Kms from here, yesterday and after day-long deliberations, the meeting resolved to uphold common solidarity on ''rights to political self-determination''.

In a joint declaration, both the sides affirmed that they would continue to work in close partnership to facilitate the attainment of their hopes and aspirations''. The two sides further resolved to oppose all forms of ''exploitative design'' of external forces including the ''divisive'' politics of the Union Government.

The two sides also affirmed that the relationship between the two neighbouring states would be based on mutual respect and trust and said since the issue and problems of the Assamese and Nagas were inter-linked and complementary, dialogues at various levels, including people in border areas must be vigorously pursued to ensure both a sustained relationship and peace.

Further, the declaration said they have resolved to organise cultural exchange programme from time to time.
