Disc on good relation b/w Assam, Nagaland
Kohima, Jun 10: The Peoples Committee for Peace initiative inAssam (PCPIA) and Naga civil societies comprising Naga Peoples movementfor Human Rights (NPMHR), Naga Hohom Naga Mothers' Association (NMA)and Naga Students Federation (NSF) have declared to resolve anydifferences between Assam and Nagaland by themselves without anyexternal intervention.
The two sides met at Kigwema about 12 Kms from here, yesterday andafter day-long deliberations, the meeting resolved to uphold in commonsolidarity on "our rights to political self-determination".
In a joint declaration, both the sides affirmed that they wouldcontinue to work in close partneship to facilitate the attainment of"our hopes and aspirations". The two sides further resolved to opposeall forms of "exploitative design" of external forces including the"divisive" politics of the Union Government.
The two sides also affirmed that the relationship between the twoneighbouring states would be based on mutual respect and trust and saidsince the issue and problems of the Assamese and Nagas wereinter-linked and complementary, dialogues at various levels, includingpeople in border areas must be vigorously pursued to ensure both asustained relationship and peace.
Further, the declaration said they have resolved to organise cultural exchange programme from time to time.
