Thane, June 10 (UNI) The BJP, which is spearheading an agitation here over their demand for water for the tribals from the region from the proposed Middle Vaitarna project, has launched a ''Jal Parikrama'' in the villages to press for their demand.

Former MP and Thane district BJP president Chintaman Wanga has said the goverment was doing injustice upon the villagers by not providing them even a drop of water despite the fact that the Rs 4,000-crore project is coming up in their villages and land has been acquired for the purpose.

Mr Wanga told reporters that Mumbai has always received its water supply from the projects situated in Sahapur taluka in this district and, now, Mokhada taluka has been selected for the Middle Vaitarna project which again will supply water to Mumbai. However, the villagers, who supply water to Mumbai, are left thirsty, according to senior BJP leader from the district Om Prakash Sharma.

A project report by NEERI, indicates that not a drop of water will be made available to the Thane villagers from the Middle Vaitarna project, the BJP leaders said.
