37 lakh tonnes wheat in Haryana mandis
Chandigarh, June 10 (UNI) Of the 37.02 lakh metric tonnes of wheat that has arrived in the mandis of Haryana so far, 90 per cent of the grain has been purchased by the six government procuring agencies.
While stating this here today Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said that the six government procuring agencies have procured 33.39 lakh metric tonnes of wheat which was 11.09 lakh metric tonnes more than the previous year During the last year total arrival of wheat was 30.20 lakh metric tonnes. He said that this year the traders had purchased 3.62 lakh metric tonnes of wheat which was 10 per cent of the total arrival.
While enumerating the details of the arrival of the wheat, he said that of the total wheat arrival, 8.12 lakh metric tonnes had been procured by the Food and Supplies Department, 12.87 lakh metric tonnes by Hafed, 3.49 lakh metric tonnes by Food Corporation of India, 3.33 lakh metric tonnes by Haryana Agro-Industries Corporation, about 2.91 lakh metric tonnes by Haryana Warehousing Corporation and 2.66 lakh metrictonnes by Confed.
He said that Sirsa district was leading with over 6.69 lakh metric tonnes of wheat arrival, followed by Fatehabad with 5.07 lakh metric tonnes, Jind with 4.50 lakh metric tonnes, Kaithal with 4.45 lakh metric tonnes, Karnal with about 4.39 lakh metric tonnes, Kurukshetra with 2.97 lakh metric tonnes, Ambala 1.06 lakh MTs and Yamunanagar 81,819 MTs.
