20 injured in struggle for water in Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer, Jun 10 (UNI) Twenty people were injured, four critically, in a group clash following dispute over drawing drinking water from a tanker in Nimba village of this desert district.

A Police spokesman today said a woman-Inayati-yesterday went to fetch water from the tanker at a famine relief work site in the village but two persons already taking water from the tanker, prevented her from drawing water and forced her to return without water.

The woman informed her family and her relatives rushed to the spot to protest. The fight took an ugly turn as the two sides indulged in bloody clash using share edge weapons and batons. The clash left at least 20 persons injured.

The injured were rushed to the Jaisalmer district Hospital here the condition of four was stated to be serious.

Cross cases have been registered in this connection, spokesman added.
