Youth murdered, body dumped in canal
Chennai, June 9 (UNI) A doctor's son was allegedly murdered at Thiruvanmiyur in South Chennai and his body was dumped in a canal at suburban Sholinganallur in the wee hours of today, police said.
Police sources said the body of Prashanth, son of a homeopathy doctor at Neelankarai, was left in a Scorpio car underneath a bridge off the East Coast Road.
Passersby who noticed the half-submerged car in the canal informed the police. A special team headed by Deputy Commissioner Mahendra Kumar Rathore recovered the car, in which the body of Prashanth, with bruises on his face, was found in the back seat.
Meanwhile, acting on information that blood stains were found in commercial complex at Thiruvanmiyur and a cellphone besides it, police conducted enquiries and found that Prashanth was murdered in the complex and the body was dumped at Sholinganallur.
Considering the presence of about five empty beer bottles in the car, police suspected that the youth must have been forced to consume excessive alcohol before he was murdered.
