Woman crushed under state transport corpn bus

Barrackpore, Jun 9 (UNI) A 48-year-old woman was run over and killed and a rickshaw-puller injured by a South Bengal State Transport Corporation bus, plying between Naihati and Habra in North 24 Parganas today.

The incident occurred on the busy Ghoshpara road near Naihati Railway Station in North 24 Parganas this morning.

According to police, the woman, identified as Chitrita Roy Chowdhury of Behala in South 24 Parganas, was on way to her sister's house at Mitra Bagan under Naihati police station, when the incident occurred.

The Habra-bound bus rammed the riskhaw, resulting in Mrs Roy Chowdhury instantly being thrown out of the three-wheeler and crushed under the bus' wheels. She died instantly, police informed.

Police have recovered the body for post mortem.
