Una hottest place in HP at 44.2 degrees

Shimla, Jun 9 (UNI) Shimla town in Himachal Pradesh today recorded the hottest day at 31.3 degrees and night at 21.5 degrees Celsius during the summer season with the temperatures continuing to remain three to seven degrees above normal elsewhere in the state.

The maximum at 31.3 degrees in the state capital was 7.3 degrees above normal, while the minimum at 21.5 degrees was 5.5 degrees above normal for this year of the season.

The met office said that the state capital's maximum bettered the previous high of 30.5 degrees recorded in 2005 and 29.5 degrees in 2006.

This year Shimla had recorded the hottest day of the season on June three when mercury soared to 28.4 degree Celsius, it said, adding that temperatures would remain high in the state for the next 48 hrs.

Yesterday, the state capital had recorded a high of 29.7 and a low of 20.2 degrees.

Una town was the hottest place in the state at 44.2 degrees followed by Sundernagar in Mandi district with a maximum of 42.1 degrees as compared to 40 degrees recorded yesterday.

The met office said the maximum at Bhuntar soared to a new high of 38.6 degree Celsius as against 37.2 degrees recorded yesterday, while Hamirpur town was hot at 42 degree.

Kalpa in Kinnuar district recorded a maximum of 25.1 degrees, while Dharamshala in Kangra district rose to 35.8 degrees from yesterday's high of 34.9 degrees.

The minimum temperature at 21.5 degrees at Shimla, made it the hottest night of the season, bettering the yesterday's high of 20.2 degrees.

The met office said the minimum at Sundernagar at 20.4, 16.7 degrees at Bhuntar and 10 degree Celsius at Kalpa was four to six degrees above normal.
