Rs 1 crore for "White Revolution" in Nagaland
Kohima, June 09 (UNI) Nagaland Parliamentary Secretary for Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Hewoto Awomi has said that the Department has allocated an initial amount of Rs one crore for dairy development.
Inaugurating the first-ever Ice Cream Plant at the Dimapur Milk Union Limited (DIMUL) in the Dimapur Central Dairy Complex at Dimapur yesterday, Mr Hewoto said the department had also set up new diary plant capable of producing 2,000 litres per day at Kohima, Milk Chilling Plants of 1,000 litres capacity one each at Wokha, Mon, Pfutsero, Zunheboto and Tuenang.
He stated that a fodder plant with a capacity of two tonnes per hour would soon be commissioned at Kohima.
He further informed that the Department has launched a comprehensive Rural Extension Services Programme to provide a single window delivering system where a team of Veterinary Doctors along with Para-Veterinarians would visit every single village in the state at least once every quarter year for creating awareness on Animal husbandry practices, provide treatment, vaccination, de-worming, fooder seeds and breeding supports.
