Parkway Healthcare opens six consultation centres
Bangalore, Jun 9 (UNI) Singapore-based Parkway Healthcare Group has opened six free consultation centres in the country for children suffering from leukaemia, to get access to medical services with latest stem cell transplant therapy.
Informing this to reporters here today, Dr Anselm Chi-wai Lee, an expert on cancer and blood disease in children said the group had set up International Patient Assistance Centres in New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Patna and Ludhiana to extend the service to every person seeking professional medical referral and consultation.
Stating that children with leukaemia or other forms of cancers would get benefitted from this latest hematopoietic stem cells transplantation, he said ''We can beat cancer with this contemporary medicine and there is a hope for the future.'' Dr Lee, the first person to transplant bone marrow in leukemia patients and transplant the original cell from umblical cords successfully, said one in every 500 children would develop cancer before their 18th birthday.
He said 70 per cent of the children diagnosed with cancer could be cured through this treatment.
