New cultural policy to be introduced in Karnataka: Minister
Mysore, June 9 (UNI) Karnataka Kannada and Culture Minister H S Mahadeva Prasad today said a new cultural policy would be introduced during the next Assembly session.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the government had already received two draft reports from experts.
The report would be resubmitted within next 15 days to the Government with modifications.
He said the new cultural policy was necessary to implement various works in the department.
Mr Prasad said the 'Viswha Kannada Sammelan' would be held at Belgaum during September this year.
A meeting had been called ON June 13 at Belgaum to discuss various things, including preparation for the mega event.
Stating that the Janapada Jatre, which received good response in Bangalore last year, would be continued in other parts of the state after consulting the sub-committee headed by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, he said the department would spend Rs five crore for the Jatre in the state.
Mr Prasad said that for the first time, the Kannada and Culture department would organise a national level inter-university drama competition in September.
In all 13 universities of the state and five universities from across the country were expected to participate in different events organised as part of ''Suvarna Karnataka''.
The events would be made an annual affair in the coming years, in consultation with the universities, to encourage drama activities in the state, particularly to enrich Kannada, he added.
