More than 600 cadets pass out from IMA

Dehradun, June 9 (UNI) For the first time in IMA history, more than 600 Gentlemen Cadets passed out of the Academy this morning.

Chief Guest of the ceremony Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Suresh Mehta reviewed the passing out parade in front of historical Chetwode building of IMA. A total of 649 cadets cleared their way out of the Indian Military Academy which include 8 from Bhutan, 1 from Mauritius and 15 from Tajikistan.

The coveted 'Sword of Honour' given to the cadet for best all round performance was awarded to Academy Under Officer Sajal Matroja. He also received a Silver medal for standing second in order of merrit from Regular Course. The Gold Medal went to Academy Cadet Adjutant Pallawa Jha and Bornze Medal went to Battalion Under Officer Paramvir Singh Sidhu.

Admiral Mehta in his address to the cadets said with modern warfare shifting more to electronic warfare, it was necessary that officers of armed forces adapted, themselves more to the latest technologies. He stressed that honour of leadership ought to be earned by proving themselves in front of the men they commanded. He said that the officers should always keep in mind that Honour Safety and Welfare of nation comes first, and welfare of the men they commanded came next and their own welfare after that.
