Militant triggered an IED to target security forces in Kashmir

Baramulla, June 9 (UNI) Militants today made an abortive bid to target a security force convoy when they triggered a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) on the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road this afternoon.

Official sources said the militants detonated a powerful IED at Nihalpora, Pattan when a security force convoy was passing through the area at 1245 hrs.

However, the blast took place a few seconds after the last vehicle passed through the area. There was no report of any loss of life or damage to property in the blast, the sources added.

Traffic on the highway was suspended for about sometime.

Security forces conducted a search operation in the nearby localities.
