Mayawati to announce her party's Presidential candidate tomorrow

Lucknow, June 9 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati is likely to announce the name of her party's choice for the Presidential candidate by tomorrow in New Delhi.

Ms Mayawati is leaving for the national capital this afternoon and will stay there for a couple of days, official sources said.

The BSP chief, immediately after proceedings against her in the Taj Heritage Corridor (THC) case were dropped on June 5, told a press conference that she would announce the name of the Presidential candidate, her party would support, in New Delhi in the coming days.

The Presidential elections are due next month when the present incumbent A P J Abdul Kalam completes his term.

If Ms Mayawati announces the name, the BSP would be the first political party to name its choice of the Presidential candidate.
