Kargil multi-crore BSNL communication scandal accused denied bail
Srinagar, Jun 9 (UNI) After Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Kashmir, rejected the bail applications of three people involved in the Kargil multi-crore BSNL communication scandal, the Vigilance Organisation (VO) today declared three other accused as proclaimed offenders and announced a reward for those helping to arrest them.
The judge, after hearing arguments from both the sides, denied the bail to the accused saying it has international ramification concerning security.
As the case came up for hearing, the defence lawyers of the accused Shamim Ahmad, Roshan Lal Bhat and Naseer Ahmad Malik moved three separate bail applications pleading innocence and saying they deserve bail.
However, the Chief Prosecuting Officer, opposing the bail, submitted a detail report of the case prepared by VO before the court.
The VO in its report said Aijaz Ahmad, who has been declared proclaimed offender along with his two brothers, had established with other co-accused a network of call centres with conference facility in Kargil for the past two years.
The call centres were run in a clandestine manner causing loss of crores of rupees to the BSNL.
The report has identified 32 countries so far where calls were made during these two years.
Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police, VO, has declared proclaimed offender Aijaz Ahmad, Mohammad Shafi Bhat and Shabir Ahmad Bhat alias Doctor sons of Abdul Rehman Bhat.
Anyone giving any information leading to their arrest will be rewarded, the VO said releasing the photographs of the accused brothers.
