Srinagar, Jun 9 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Apex Project Clearance Committee (APCC) has approved investment mobilisation of over Rs 450 crore and creation of employment for 2,500 people by giving nod to five investment proposals in medium and large scale industrial sectors.

The committee which met under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary C Phunsog here cleared the projects and emphasised the need for monitoring effectively the employment criterion and providing 90 per cent employment to the locals.

The prominent among the project cleared are manufacturing unit of high quality garments by Tees Apparels Private Ltd, a Chennai-based company at Industrial Growth Centre Pulwama, Kashmir, an official spokesman said today.

He said the project is being set up at a cost of Rs 130 crore in two phases with an investment of Rs 83.45 crore in Phase-I of the project and the company will be creating employment opportunities for at least 2,000 skilled and semi-skilled workers.

Another project for the manufacture of Pulp, Duplex Board and paper is being set up by one of the leading industrial houses of the country Bharat Box at Kathua in Jammu with an investment of Rs 201 crore with an employment potential for 882 persons.

The other projects cleared are for manufacturing of safety shoes, Pharmaceuticals and Value Added Milk Products.

He also stressed the need to ensure that the pollution concerns are seriously taken care of while allowing industrial units to be established in the state.
