Haryana: Govt agencies procure 90 per cent wheat

Chandigarh, Jun 9 (UNI) The 90 per cent of the total arrival of wheat in Haryana mandis has been purchased by six government procuring agencies while the traders have purchased only 10 per cent.

The agencies have procured 33.38 lakh metric tonnes of wheat, which was 11.08 lakh metric tonnes more than the previous year, Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said today.

Over 37.01 lakh metric tonnes of wheat had arrived in the mandis so far during the current rabi season and the traders had purchased 3.63 lakh metric tonnes of wheat.

He said 12.86 lakh metric tonnes of wheat had been procured by Hafed, 8.11 lakh metric tonnes by the Food and Supplies Department, 3.49 lakh tonnes by Food Corporation of India, 3.33 lakh tonnes by Haryana Agro-Industries Corporation, 2.91 lakh tonnes by Haryana Warehousing Corporation and 2.66 lakh tonnes by Confed.
