DHVBN to replace traditional bulbs with CFls

Chandigarh, Jun 9 (UNI) The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has decided to replace all the traditional incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) by December next year in the entire area of the state being covered by the Nigam.

Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Managing Director Vijender Kumar made this announcement while interacting with the prize winners of the 'Save Electricity Campaign' organised by the Nigam in collaboration with Big FM Radio at Hisar today.

Mr Vijender Kumar said there was a heavy load on the power supply system during the summer season as the demand of electricity for domestic use increases manifold.

So it was necessary to use electrical appliances which consumed less electricity. This process would help in minimising the load factor.

He said that 70 per cent of power could be saved by utilising CFL system in place of traditional bulbs as a result of which 1,400 MW of power could be saved during the evening time.

This step would also provide the much needed relief to the people from the frequent power cuts.
