Delhi-Mumbai freight corrider to benefit Gujarat: Modi

Halol, Gujarat, June 9 (UNI) Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said with Gujarat heading for the major industrial development, the state will get the maximum benefit of the Delhi-Mumbai Freight Corridor.

Addressing a public gathering here, after dedicating critical infrastructure project for water supply to the Halol Industrial Estate, Mr Modi said the critical infrastructure development projects offer a facelift to the industrial estates.

He said 500 industrial units in the industrial estate would receive 50 lakh litres of water every day from the Narmada canal.

''The water of Narmada has the quality of alchemy, and it is going to offer the golden opportunities of progress and development to the Halol estate. Narmada is the lifeline for Gujarat and its water will generate enormous employment opportunities for the local youth at Halol,'' Mr Modi said.

He stressed on the need to link human resource development with the industrial development. A task force is working on this line, he added.

The Chief Minister claimed that in the 10th five year plan, Gujarat is number one in energy sector. Even the Congress-led UPA government had admired the state's achievements in the appropriate forum.

With efficient transformer technology, Gujarat would emerge as a transmission pioneer in the nation. Perspective of the people has changed, they need quality power than the cheap power, he said.

Speaking on the occasion, State Industry Minister Anil Patel said the critical infrastructure development has been undertaken through industry's participation.

The state government would spend Rs 300 crore to create critical infrastructural facilities for 22 industrial estates, he said.

The Industrial Association has donated Rs 1.11 lakh in the Kanya Kelavani Nidhi to the Chief Minister.
