New Delhi, June 9 (UNI) Union Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz today said that under the Interstate Water Disputes Act the supreme court or any other court shall have no, jurisdiction in respect of any water dispute referred to the Tribunal.

In a letter to Mr B Janardhana Poojari, Rajya Sabha member from Karnataka, regarding the notification of Cauvery Disputes Tribunal award, Prof Soz also drew his attention to Section 5 (3) of the Act which provided for states concerned to seek explanation and guidance from the Tribunal within three months of the final order.

The Tribunal under such a situation may forward to the Centre a further report in one year from the date of reference, giving such explanations and guidance as it deems fit.

In such a case, the decision of the Tribunal shall be deemed to be modified accordingly, the minister explained.

He also wrote that party states had made reference to CWDT under this provision and Centre also had made a reference to CWDT.
