CBI frames charges against 5 Sacha Sauda followers

Ambala, Jun 9 (UNI) The CBI today framed charges against five followers of the Dera Sacha Sauda, including its manager Krishan Lal, in the Ranjeet Singh murder case.

The other four accused against whom charges were framed in the court of Special CBI Judge R K Saini were Inder Sein, Jasbir Singh, Sabdil and Avtar Singh.

The five accused had been charged for murder, conspiracy and threat to kill under Sections 302, 120b, 506 IPC and Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act for possessing illegal arms.

The accused were allegedly involved in the murder of Ranjit Singh, a confidant of the Dera Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.

Ranjit was killed on August 31, 2002 near Kurukshetra.

The CBI was handed over the murder case on the directive of the Punjab and Haryana High Court which was approached by Ranjit Singh's father Joginder Singh.

The court fixed August 4 as the next date for hearing.
