Cases against 500 Gujjars lodged in UP
Muzaffarnagar, Jun 9 (UNI) Cases were lodged at Kandhla and Chapar police stations here against 500 members of the Gujjar community for indulging in acts of vandalism and blocking roads recently.
Widespread protests were witnesses here by Gujjars, who were protesting police firing on the community members demanding ST status in Rajasthan.
Named FIRs were lodged against 15 persons, including Mandla gram pradhan Pushpendra, Reta Nangla gram pradhan Munna, Simalki gram pradhan Narain Singh, besides over 500 unidentified people.
Two accused Ravindra of Tejalheda and Vikas of Mandla had already been arrested.
Other named accused include Sunil, Rehtu Pradhan, Virendra, Arjun Singh, Aman Singh and Pintu, police said.
