BJP says anti-people policies responsible for Congress' defeat
Shimla, Jun 9 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh unit of the BJP today said anti-people policies being pursed by the government is responsible for the defeat of its candidate in the Hamirpur Lok Sabha by-polls and major administrative reshuffle will not improve its image.
Price rise, unemployment and corruption were the main reasons for the defeat of its candidate in the parliament by-polls, party spokesman Ranhir Sharma said in a release here.
He said instead of owning moral responsibility for the defeat, the Congress has effected a major administrative reshuffle and transferred Una, Kangra, Hairpur and Bilaspur DCs holding them responsible for the party's defeat.
The reshuffle would not improve the Congress' image in the state and was an exercise in futile, he said.
Terming the reshuffle exercise as ''cosmetic'', Mr Sharma said it only proved their point that the Chief Minister's office and other state government offices were neck deep in corruption.
He said the reshuffle has only been carried out to shield the corrupt officers as proved by the reinstatement of suspended state ADGP BS Thind.
The state government, instead of learning any lesson from the recent defeat, was continuing with its policy of sheltering the corrupt officers, he added.
