Bidhuri, Gujjars stage sit-in at Rajghat
New Delhi, June 9 (UNI) Delhi NCP president Ramvir Singh Bidhuri and members of the Gujjar community today staged a dharna at Rajghat to protest against the alleged police atrocities on Gujjars in Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
A Gujjar delegation, led by Mr Bidhuri, submitted a memorandum to Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Delhi Police Commissioner, demanding an immediate end to ''harassment'' of the community members.
The protestors alleged that police and authorities in these states had unleashed a ''reign of terror'' on the Gujjar community since it called off its agitation.
''Ever since peace has been restored... false cases are being registered against the members of the community and they are being picked up from their homes during night without any charges,'' Mr Bidhuri claimed.
Mr Bidhuri threatened to launch 'Satyagrah' against police action.
