Additional 200 buses for J

Srinagar, Jun 9 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Government is contemplating to restructure the State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) as a 'joint venture' with the Jammu and Kashmir Bank to bring the corporation out of red and make it a profitable and economically viable organisation.

In the next two months a fleet of nearly 200 new buses would be added to the SRTC and around 300 grounded buses would be made operational which are presently under repair in various workshops, Minister for Transport Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen said during a meeting here.

The Minister said for working out the modalities of the proposed joint venture, the government is planning to de-rationalise various routs in the state with a view to provide better transport facilities to the passengers.

He also directed for operating inter-district services besides providing better transport facilities to the tourists.
