3 die of contagious diseases

Mainpuri, June 9 (UNI) At least three people have died and 100 others taken ill since yesterday due to the spread of contagious diseases, brough about by extreme heat wave and drinking water shortage here.

Sources said people were falling ill in scores. More than 100 people were undergoing treatment in various hospitals since yesterday.

Power outages had completely stalled water supply in the district, forcing the people to consume contaminated water.

Last night, thousands of agitated people shouted slogans against the electricity department.
