Two girls share top position in HSC exams in Kolhapur

Kolhapur, Jun 8 (UNI) Two girl students -- Ketki Vishram Gulwani, Amruta Arun Patil, both from Vivekanand college, Kolhapur -- secured 95.83 per cent marks and stood first in Kolhapur division in the Maharashtra State Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination, the results of which were declared today.

Kolhapur division board chairman M R Kadam told reporters here that both Ketki and Amruta also jointly shared the first position among girl students.

Kedar Ravindra Panditrao of Vilingdon college, Sangli and Amol Jagnnath Yedge from Yeshwantrao Chavan college of Science, Karad in Satara district secured second and third spots with 95.67 per cent and 95.50 per cent marks respectively, Mr Kadam said.

A total of 95,748 candidates registered their names for the HSC exams conducted in February-March this year. Of these, 94,704 appeared and 72,800 students passed. The overall pass percentage in the division was 67.87 which was higher than previous year by 1.82 per cent, he said.

The Kolhapur division comprises of five districts namely Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg, he added.
