Fatehabad, Jun 8 (UNI) Former Haryana Chief Minister and INLD supremo Om Parkash Chautala today said the newly set up third front of non-Congress and non-BJP parties would be a key player in the coming Presidential elections in the country.

''Neither the UPA nor the NDA would be in a position to get its candidate elected without the support of the front,'' Mr Chautala said while talking to media persons here.

He said leaders of the front would meet at Chennai soon to discuss their strategy for the Presidential elections.

Mr Chautala said the people of the country were disillusioned with both the Congress and the BJP and the third front would provide viable alternative to these parties.

He maintained that the country was passing through circumstances similar to those which prevailed during 1977 and 1987 when the Janata Party and the Janata Dal were formed respectively.

He said the relations between the Congress and the Left parties were driven by political compulsions. ''The third front will emerge stronger in the next Parliamentary elections and the Left parties would be left with no option but to support the third front.'' Mr Chautala said mid-term polls for the Lok Sabha could be held anytime as the left parties were not going to support the 'anti-people' UPA government for long.

To a question, Mr Chautala questioned the justification of the Haryana government providing Z plus security cover to Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Sant Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.

He said the Dera Chief claimed to be a saint and a religious person should not be afraid of anyone.
