Sikh 'jatha' leave for Pak pilgrimage

Amritsar, June 8 (UNI) A 863-strong 'jatha' of Sikh pilgrims today left for Lahore on a nine day pilgrimage to the holy shrines of Pakistan.

The 'jatha' is being led by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandik Committee (SGPC) member Raghbir Singh. While 827 pilgrims left by train from Attari, the rest crossed over by road through the Wagah border.

The 'jatha' will visit the holy shrines of Panja Sahib, Nankana Sahib and Dera Sahib in Lahore, before returning home on June 17.

The pilgrims will observe the martyrdom day of fifth Guru Arjan Dev at Dera Sahib on June 16.
