Rain claims two more lives; toll rises to seven

Bijapur, Karnataka, June 8 (UNI) Heavy rains lashing the district has claimed two more lives, taking the toll in rain-related mishaps to seven in the last two days.

Police said Mahadevi Siddanna Kumbar (25) was charred to death when lightning struck her while she was working in front of her house at Bannetti village in Sindagi taluk today.

One Hulagawwa Nanamant Lakkannavar (52) died when the roof of her house collapsed due to heavy rains at Gangur village in Muddebihal taluk.

In another incident, a bullock died of lightning at Arjunagi village in Sindagi taluk.

Yesterday, five people, including a woman, were killed in rain-related mishaps in the district. Three people were charred to death in a lightning strike near Talikot, while one person died on the spot near Muddebihal.

A woman was killed when the roof of a house collapsed on her at Ganesha village in the district.
