Rain claims two more lives-toll rises to seven

Bijapur, June 8 (UNI) Heavy rains lashing the Bijapur District has claimed two more lives, taking the toll to Seven since last two days.

Police said that Mahadevi Siddanna Kumbar(25)died when lightning struck her while working in front of her house at Bannetti village in Sindagi taluk today.

In another incident Mr Hulagawwa Nanamant Lakkannavar (52) died when roof of her house collapsed while she was asleep due to heavy rains at Gangur Village in Muddebihal taluk.

In yet another incident, a bullock belonging to Maruti Tavarakhed died when a lightning hit it at Arjunagi village in Sindagi taluk.

The value of the bullock was estimated to be Rs 15,000. The Almel police registered the case.

Yesterday five people, including a woman, were killed due to heavy rain accompanied by lightning in the District. Three people were charred to death in a lightning strike near Talikot. While one person died on the spot when lightning struck him near Muddebihal, a woman was killed when the roof of a house collapsed on her at Ganesha village in the district.
