Probe starts in Mainpuri violence
Mainpuri, June 8 (UNI) Investigations have started in the June 6 violence in Kishni area here, where a clash between police and the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) activicts had wounded scores, including two policemen.
The probe has been handed over to Sub Divisional Magistrate (Bhogaon) Kamendra Singh, Mainpuri District Magistrate Anita Meshram informed today.
''The situation, at present, is under control. However, the police have been directed to keep a close vigil,'' he said added.
Incensed over the auction of the property of BSP leader Nirmal Singh, who is wanted in the murder of a Samajwadi Party worker Ashish Yadav alias Neelu, BSP activists pelted the police station with stones and torched a PAC truck and two motorcycles.
Several people, including two cops, were injured in the violence.
The accused BSP leader is husband of Nagar Palika chairperson Sarla Chauhan and has been absconding after the murder on May 26.
So far, six persons had been arrested and six police personnel, including the concerned station officers, suspended for dereliction of duty.
