President presents gold coin to ISRO employees

Hassan, Karnataka, June 8 (UNI) The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) today gave away a commemorative gold coin to all its 16,500 employees to mark the successful recovery of the Satellite Recovery Experiment (SRE) capsule in January this year.

Announcing this at a function organised to mark the dedication of INSAT 4B by President A P J Abdul Kalam, ISRO Chairman G Madhavan Nair said the SRE, launched on January 7 by a PSLV vehicle, was successfully retrieved on January 10. To mark the event, each employee would be given a four gram gold coin, he added.

Mr Kalam gave away the coins to five of the employees.

The coin on the one side carried the image of Aryabhatta and GSLV on the other.
