Police begins major search operations in Manipur
Imphal, June 8 (UNI) The Manipur police have launched major combat operations in various parts of the state to nab the militants.
Police started the operations after cases of arson and militancy increased in the state. As a part of it, every day an undisclosed area was surrounded and individuals questioned so that the militants could be tracked.
Police said a suspected ultra was shot dead by the troops during the operation at Bishenpur district yesterday who was later identified as Thokchom Naothoi. A pistol, one magazine and live rounds of ammunition had also been recovered from him.
Previously, a bus, coming from Asom was stopped by some miscreants and burnt at Imphal East a few days back, police added.
