Munaf is fully fit, bowlers rearing to go: King
Mysore, Jun 8 (UNI) Speedster Munaf Patel who had to return half way through the Bangladesh tour and had been dogged by injuries recently has recovered completely and he is fully fit to lead the Indian bowling attack in Ireland and England, Team India fitness trainer Gregory King said here today.
Speaking to newspersons at the end of the five-day bowlers camp which was held at the Infosys Global Training Centre here, he said all the eleven bowlers who took part in the camp were fully fit.
Munaf had come back from the Bangladesh tour complaining of lower back pain and he had been affected with other injures in the recent past. He had been replaced by Delhi new ball bowler Ishant Sharma before the second Test at Chittagong. He could not play in the ongoing Afro-Asia Cup.
Three others included in the camp like S Sreesanth, who played in Afro-Asia Twenty-20 match, Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh, who are playing in the One-day series of the same tournament did not attend the camp.
King today stated that Munaf had completely recovered from the back injury he suffered last month. "All the bowlers who came to Mysore are fit for the twin-tours," he announced.
India would be playing three one-day ties in Ireland against South Africa and another ODI against Pakistan. Later it plays England in a full tour that includes three tests and seven ODIs.
He expressed happiness about the facilities in the campus which he said was of world standard.
The camp was held under the watchful eyes of specialist bowling coach B K Venkatesh Prasad.
